Google Trends Data offers a rare look at what the world is searching for. In honor of Black History Month, Google launched a national brand campaign to celebrate the icons and moments that were “most searched” in the United States between 2004 and 2019. To be considered “most searched” a person or moment must be searched more than any other in a specific category. In other words, the “most searched tennis player” means that Serina Williams was searched more than any other tennis player in the United States.
As part of this campaign, Google Brand Studio tapped Hello Monday to create a unique digital experience that would bring Black History Month to life through the lens of Search. We designed a layered experience that allowed us to showcase the most searched icons and moments according to Google’s U.S.-based Trends Data, while also highlighting Google’s support for the next generation of history makers. This experience chronicles a data-driven story that was years in the making.
